I say okay... fuck it if it started it works... It does it again yesterday and i shrug it off one more time. I go to the gas statio tonightn and it craps out. I can't unlock her and no lights go on as i disarm and arm the remote. I then undo the negative battery and put it back on and she starts up...
Preface

Another member (HawkZ28 on CFans) found the Granatelli Performance Coil-Over-Plug (COP) Boot (Read his review here) and made a few of us think about a way to make it ourselves to save money. Looking at the images of the Granatelli COP Boots in his review made it easy for us to come up with an alternative. Here, you will see how it is done. :D

Tools/Materials needed:
1. Straight (180°) Spark Plug Terminals - I used Taylor P/N 44399
2. At least 15" of 8mm Low Resistance Spark Plug/Coil Wire - I had some Mallory Pro Sidewinder Silicon Suppression Wire in my tool box
3. Wire Cutter
4. Wire Stripper
5. Terminal Crimper
6. Phillips Screwdriver
7. High Temp Grease

Mod Procedure:
1. Remove coil packs from head
2. Pull Boot from bottom of coil pack
3. Remove the coil spring from inside the boot using a small Phillips Screwdriver to push it out though the bottom (image A)
4. Cut 2.5" of Spark Plug Wire (image B) and strip 0.5" of silicon from the ends (image C)
5. Bend wire back over the wire sleeve and crimp terminal in place (image D)
6. Repeat step 5 for other end to complete the wire/terminal assembly (image E)
7. Put a light coat of high-temp grease (I used brake assembly grease) on one terminal end to ease installation into boot
8. Install wire/terminal assembly into the boot until it is just below the surface of the coil pack end of the boot (image F) - I found it easiest to insert the wire/terminal assembly in through the bottom of the boot
9. Reinstall the boot to the bottom of the coil pack (image G)
10. Reinstall the coil pack on the head.

Summary
So far so good! The first thing I noticed was the engine seemed to start quicker. I let the engine sit and idle for about 5 minutes and it was noticeably smoother. I turned the AC on and let it idle for another 15 minutes and it still idled smoothly. I took it out on a drive and also noticed the throttle seemed to be a bit more responsive and while cruising at 75 mph, the throttle only required light feathering to maintain speed. The engine was idling really badly the past two weeks (we had a few days over 100°F) but I think it was due to bad fuel. I filled up a few days ago with Shell 91 octane Nitrogen enriched fuel and it helped reduce the rough idle. I will run another tank of the same fuel to get a baseline with the COP Boot Mod then add my results here.

hello all,
so i have been stressin out the last couple days about what tires and size im going to get. First off I work at a tire warehouse so i found 2 different hook-ups... one i can get the BFG all terrain 32's for about $140 a piece and they will mount them for $20. my 2nd hook up is a new one.... a tire company from another country called GT tire... for them i can get a 33 mud terrain for about $100 a tire, but i have to get them mounted and balanced myself. i still have my old rims/tires because i need the tire pressure monitors in them (i hate those things)... so i might be putting those on temporarily because i want to take them to a shop to get them powder coated black. what should i do fellas? i still have a couple weeks to decide but i want to do this right the first time....:huh2:

hey fam,

planning to do my TB crank in a month but i thought while i was at it, get some shocks too..
I'm planning to do 1.5- 2 in crank and wondering what shocks would you recommend R/F... I was looking up the rancho and monroe stuff on rockauto but wasn't sure what to get. I've been trying to read up on it on the nation but wanted to get your opnions as well. I just want a smooth ride/stock ride that could also perform well/decent off road... I know nothing about shocks so explanations would be great on why a particular brand/type.

Any suggestions on parts will be a big help.

so i was driving my truck earlier, this was around 7:30-8:30pm and i didnt notice it at first but as i was heading home and it was getting darker of course, i noticed my headlights were'nt coming on. so lucky i was already like a block away from my house and no one was flagging me down about my headlights.

so i pull up to my drive way and still no headlight, no drls, no fogs, i then wanted to put my window up and nothing, also no a/c or heater, no dome light or rear view mirror lights. but man my truck still truns on normally drives fine, radio works, dashboard lights are good.

the reason why i also noticed it was because i turned off my truck and turned it back on and nothing no drls, put it in drive and still nothing. YEAH WIERD BUT TRUE.

IF ANYBODY HAS AN IDEA OF WHATS GOING ON OR CAN HELP IN ANY WAY,PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
